Wind turbine hit by lightning of the Wicklow coast this afternoon and catches fire

The southeast and east coast has been hit with very active thunderstorms and heavy rainfall this morning which has lead to some flash flooding in places. These thunderstorm have been severe in nature with hundreds of lighting strikes detected on which is a wind turbine of the Wicklow coast and manage to set it on fire.

Further waves of Thunderstorms are expected this evening and tonight across parts of the country with the east and south most at risk.

New Thunderstorm and rainfall warning have been issued by Met Eireann.
