Ireland set to be hit with strong wind storm in Wednesday with damaging winds possible
Ireland looks set to be hit with its first named wind storm of the season mid week (Wednesday) as an area of low pressure moving in from the Atlantic looks set to bring strong and severe winds to places with some damaging wind also possible on Wednesday. Most weather model now show the storm developing of the west coast of Ireland and deepening and pressure falling as reaches Ireland.
The latest forecast is for the low pressure to arrive near the southwest of Ireland on Wednesday morning bringing strong and severe winds there. During the day that low pressure moves northwards with them strong and severe winds moving northwards into Connacht and the during the later afternoon and evening in the northwest and north of the country.

Winds look very strong nationwide on Wednesday with the risk of some disruption. They will be strongest along Atlantic coastal counties with gusts possibly reaching as high as 140km/hr in places there. Elsewhere winds will gust between 80km/hr to 110km. Winds will be westerly in direction.
Further heavy rainfall and thunderstorms will lead to the risk of flooding again on Wednesday especially in western and northwestern counties.
Strong winds combined with high seas will lead to the risk of some coastal flooding through Wednesday.
Stay tuned over the coming hours as weather warnings are likely to be issued for wind and rain with an orange wind warning possible.
