A newborn has been found abandoned in an east London park on one of the coldest nights of the year so far.

The baby girl was discovered in Newham late on Thursday night and taken to hospital, where her condition has been described as "stable at this time".

Police are now appealing for information and say they are becoming "increasingly concerned" for her mother's safety.

Appealing directly to the mother, Inspector Shane Clarke said: "I urge you to make contact either with police, your local hospital or GP surgery. It is really important that we know that you are safe.

"I would also urge anyone who has information that could help us to reunite this baby with her mother to come forward."

When she was discovered, temperatures in the area were barely above 0C (32F) - and snow has fallen there during the evening.

I was in Albufeira Portugal I was waiting for the full moon to come up and it did not let me down.

The orange and red tints that the Moon sometimes take on rising and setting are caused by the particles in the Earth's atmosphere. When light (or more specifically, packets of light called photons) from an astronomical object passes through the Earth's atmosphere, it scatters off of particles in the latter.
