BREAKING NEWS - SCAFFOLDING COLLAPSES OUTSIDE LONDON HOSPITAL DUE TO STRONG WINDS
A huge section of scaffolding has collapsed outside the Royal Free Hospital, as strong winds batter the capital.
Approximately 200sqm of scaffolding fell opposite the hospital in Hampstead, north London, just before 3pm.
The scaffolding had stretched from ground floor to third floor level, the London Fire Brigade said.
A spokesman added: "Surrounding buildings have been evacuated as a precaution and a cordon is in place."
There were no reports of injuries and the hospital said they had not been required to treat any patients.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We are working closely with other members of the emergency services and remain at the scene."
Photos on social media showed the crumpled scaffolding lying across the road, with attached plastic rippling in the wind.
