TWO PEOPLE DEAD AFTER BOAT CAPSIZES OF MALIN HEAD DONEGAL THIS AFTERNOON

Two RNLI lifeboats from Lough Swilly, the Coastguard helicopter based in Co.Sligo and a number of local boats got involved in a major search and rescue operation of Malin head Co.Donegal today.

A small fishing boat capsized in the area with 3 people rescued from the water.

A 16-year-old boy who was airlifted to Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Derry died tonight.

A man in his 60s who was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital has also died.

Another man from Co.Derry who was on the boat and was rescued from the water is said to be in stable condition tonight.

The search and rescue was co-ordinated by Malin Head Coastguard who said the boat left the Malin head area at midday today. People along the shore heard the calls for help and alerted Malin Head Coastguard.
