FINTRA BEACH

BEACH

This a very impressive beach just a few kilometers outside the fishing port of Killybegs on the south-west coast of County Donegal. The approach is by a downhill road which has great views views of Donegal Bay and the beach itself. There is one large car park which can get busy in high summer.

This beach is very popular with water sport enthusiasts and was awarded an International Blue Flag, operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education, which certifies that the beach has meet stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility standards. Overlooking the beach, on the headland, is the Fintra bay scenic spot from where you can see Mullaghmore and Benbulben mountains in County Sligo as well as North Mayo. There are parking picnic tables and a trailer selling great coffee and snacks in summer. A great place for families, with a chance to play on the beach and bathe in the lapping waves amidst the stunning scenery.
